Do classic capsule coffee machines have different brewing technologies?

1. High pressure extraction
High-pressure extraction is the most common extraction technology for capsule coffee machines. It uses high pressure of 15-19 bar to quickly inject hot water into the sealed coffee capsule, allowing the hot water to fully contact the coffee powder and quickly extract the coffee liquid. This method can produce concentrated espresso coffee in a very short time (usually 20-30 seconds), with a mellow taste and rich flavor. The advantages of high-pressure extraction are fast production speed and simple operation, which is suitable for users who pursue convenience and efficiency. However, some people think that this method is too simple and crude and cannot fully release the flavor and layering of coffee.

2. Low pressure extraction
Unlike high-pressure extraction, low-pressure extraction uses lower pressure (3-5 bar) to slowly inject water, simulating the traditional way of brewing drip coffee by hand. This method requires longer extraction time, usually 1-2 minutes. The advantage of low-pressure extraction is that it can better release the aroma and flavor of coffee, and produce coffee with a balanced taste and rich layers. The disadvantage is that the production time is long, which may seem a bit time-consuming for those users who pursue convenience and efficiency.

3. Centrifugal force extraction
This is a relatively unique extraction technology, and a few capsule coffee machines use this method. It uses centrifugal force to inject hot water into the capsule to fully mix the water and coffee powder, and then quickly separates the coffee liquid through high-speed centrifugation. The coffee produced by this technique has a rich taste, close to espresso, but the production process is more complicated. The advantage of centrifugal force extraction is that it can produce concentrated coffee in a shorter time. The disadvantage is that the machine structure is relatively complex and the cost is high.

4. Double extraction
As the name suggests, dual extraction technology combines the advantages of low-pressure extraction and high-pressure extraction. It first uses low pressure to slowly inject water to fully extract the aroma and flavor of coffee, and then uses high pressure to quickly extract to produce concentrated coffee liquid. This method can take into account both flavor and efficiency, and produce coffee drinks that are full-bodied, rich in texture, yet rich in flavor. Of course, the production process of double extraction is relatively complicated and requires higher machinery.

5. Steam extraction
Steam extraction is a relatively rare capsule coffee machine extraction technology. It uses steam to directly heat sealed coffee capsules, making coffee powder directly contact with high-temperature steam and extracting coffee liquid. The coffee produced in this way has a mellow and rich taste, close to the effect of manual brewing. The advantage of steam extraction is that it can release the aroma and flavor of coffee to the maximum extent, but the disadvantage is that the production process is complicated and time-consuming, requires high temperature and pressure control of the machine, and the cost is relatively high.
